Ever wondered which is the tallest building in Africa? I researched it and wrote this article. As a girl, I am fascinated by skyscrapers, and here is my list of the tallest buildings in Africa.

I will rank the tallest buildings in Africa according to the number of floors and height.

1. The Leonardo

The tallest building in Africa is The Leonardo in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is 234m (768 ft) high and has 55 floors. They completed the Leonardo in 2019, which is currently a mixed-use building.

The building includes street-level shops and an above-ground podium, where a swimming pool, restaurant, and several other facilities are located. The public can book the amenities can go through Legacy Hotels & Resorts.

2. Carlton Centre

Another tall building in South Africa is The Carlton Centre. It is in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a 223m (732 ft). It has an impressive 50 floors.

This building has been the tallest in Africa for a long time since they completed it in 1973, only to be surpassed in 2019 by The Leonardo.

This 3rd tallest building in Africa became the first to be feted in the Emporis Skyscraper Awards in 2018.

The skyscraper is the headquarters of Britam and is used for office spaces and a 12-story car park that can park up to 1,000 cars.

It was constructed at the cost of ETB 5.3 billion (US$303 million) and consisted of 2 smaller buildings that serve the public. The floor area is about 150 000 sq m.

After the structure’s completion, it became the tallest building and served as a home for many state-owned institutions like The Central Statistics Bureau and Ethiopian Statistical Institute.
